The Bergamasco Shepherd is sociable, loyal, affectionate and easy to train, but at the same time has the independent character of a true mountain dog. They are endlessly devoted to their family and always try to protect them. Very healthy, with natural intelligence and a unique appearance, Bergamasques make an excellent companion for those living in rural areas. This dog is completely unsuited to apartment life.
Bergamasco Shepherd, created for walking in the fresh air, but needs frequent communication with his beloved owner. He is calm, balanced and extremely patient. However, if you want a dog that is obedient to its owner, the Bergamasco is not for you. The Bergamasco responds well to gentle, firm and consistent training, but often shows signs of independence and independence.
The Bergamasque is a "herd" consisting of all members of the family. Bergamaskis respect the individuality of each person and treat everyone differently. Despite their independence, Bergamasques love to take part in everything that happens around them. He gets along well with children, showing care and amazing patience.
This is a very playful dog. At any age, he readily accepts invitations to play, especially from children.
The Bergamasco Shepherd has a very balanced temperament; it does not show aggression and does not attack people unless it is protecting its owner. This shepherd does not have a developed hunting instinct, and it usually does not show aggression towards other animals, including small game.
With a very responsible character, the Bergamasco Shepherd takes its role as a guard dog in the absence of its owner very seriously. They conscientiously fulfill this role and calmly endure short periods of loneliness. However, you should not use this and leave your dog alone too often. Bergamasques are very attached to their owners and need regular communication with them.
