The Havanese Bichon is a funny little cutie who can drown in a sea of love and charm for anyone who is willing to pet and scratch him behind the ears.
Today, Havanese are one of the most fashionable and exclusive pets in the world, requiring not only a tidy sum to purchase, but also months of searching and waiting.
Havaneses are typical Cubans, with a positive, calm attitude towards life and a love of communication in all its forms. The sunny climate of Liberty Island and centuries of being kept as a decorative dog have endowed the Havanese Bichon with many qualities that distinguish it from other miniature breeds. For example, Havaneses are often called "Velcro" due to their unusual tendency to be in constant contact with their owner. Walking on the heels, inquisitively finding out all the family secrets, regularly begging for affection and tasty treats - all these are the classic habits of the Havanese Bichon, without which he will soon cease to be a real Cuban.

One of the defining characteristics of the breed is the ability to reflect the behavior and mood of its owner. A dog with a cheerful, active owner will not fall into melancholy, and a pet with an emotionally restrained owner will quickly adopt his attitude to life. As a personality trait of the breed as a whole, the Havanese Bichon is a tsunami of friendliness and gentleness. Fluffy can get along with any creature, competing with cats or participating in funny adventures invented by children.

By the way, despite their external fluffiness and childish playfulness, Havaneses do not have self-awareness, since they are at the tail of the hierarchical ladder. This character trait is especially pronounced in everyday communication. When approaching its adored owner, the dog always tries to climb somewhere - onto a chair, onto someone’s lap, or at least onto an ottoman in the corner. All these maneuvers are performed with the sole purpose of getting on the same level as a person. However, these attempts to gain authority should not be confused with attempts to dominate. For the Havanese Bichon, fighting for initiative is something he has never heard of and would never want to do.

The menacing, playful bark of the Havanese can also take the place of a home alarm. By nature, this breed is not very talkative, but prefers to be loud when people who are not family members appear on the doorstep. The only caveat is that Havaneses bark equally unkindly at both friends and uninvited guests.

This breed's secret passion is paper. If you leave your Havanese unattended with a pile of newspapers or toilet paper, the apartment will become chaotic and you will end up with paper waste all over the apartment.
The Havanese Bichon spends most of its life in an apartment, so provide it with a comfortable and safe living environment. Consider how to isolate pets from the balcony. You can install a special mesh or a high fence in front of the door. The same goes for household cleaning tools and trash cans where puppies can dig holes. Also, break the habit of leaving cleaning tools on the floor.

Havaneses are ideal dogs for homebodies. To reduce their energy load, a jog around the local area or two 30-minute walks a day is enough. The average Bichon Havanese can be trained by simply going for a run with the owner.
