The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is a shepherd dog, despite its short stature. This dog is active, energetic, follows its owner everywhere and can perform various tricks. They are efficient, strong and unpretentious. From their herding background, they have acquired the instinct to herd everyone and can even bite people on the legs.

The Welsh Corgi, or Cardigan, is a very sociable dog. They are very attached to their owners and get very bored when left alone. They do not show aggression towards strangers. They are curious and friendly and will try to make friends with anyone. They get along well with children and other pets. Many breeders believe that this dog is one of the most intelligent and charming.
These dogs love their owners and their families, love to be the center of attention and enjoy participating in children's games. The instincts inherited from their ancestors make them, especially children, “shepherds.” Cardigan Welsh Corgis try to gather everyone together and will bite the legs of anyone who steps aside.

They protect children and become their friends and playmates. They get along easily with other pets and do not conflict. These dogs do not have dominant tendencies and can be raised by inexperienced breeders without any problems.
Cardigan Welsh Corgis are highly intelligent and quick-witted. They are easy to train, can learn many commands, and understand gestures and intonation. These pets can learn various tricks, but it is not advisable to force them to jump. Corgis are not suitable as guard dogs. They can warn their owner of danger by making sounds, but they do not engage in fights.

Corgis do not like monotony, so it is important that training is interesting, like a game. Because of their active and curious nature, they will not monotonously follow the same commands.
The puppy must be familiar with the rules of training and behavior. All family members must observe the prohibitions. Corgis can use cunning to force their desires on people and love to beg for food. It is important to teach them not to bark for no reason. These dogs are vocal and often make noise and bark.

When training your Cardigan Welsh Corgi, rewards such as affection and treats should be used frequently. When punishing unwanted behavior, do not be rude or aggressive. These dogs are very intelligent and understand the tone of voice very well.
